Dayton

Situated along the banks of the Carson River, Dayton, Nevada, is the first mining town to have discovered gold in the state. It provides access to Dayton State Park, where aged buildings, stone walls, and relics indicate the gold and silver mining days of old, tucked within natural surroundings of sagebrush and cottonwood. Enjoy camping, hiking, and a picnic during your stay. Located in The Virgin River Valley, the hospitable town of Mesquite, Nevada, provides access to The Virgin River Canyon Recreation Area, twenty miles northeast of Mesquite. At the top of the must-do events while in town is the Fernley 95A Speedway, the State’s most reputable national and local raceway. Lovelock, Nevada, is a river town northeast of the city of Reno, nestled in the Humboldt River basin. Once called by the name Big Meadows, Lovelock enjoys views of vast fields filled with sagebrush and alfalfa and offers opportunities to experience cowboy culture firsthand at local ranches open to the public. Guests can stay and play at one of the many guest ranches in the region while enjoying a game of golf, hiking natural trails, or visiting a nearby ghost town. Lovelock’s history is well preserved at the Marzen House Museum, featuring housewares, farming equipment, and a variety of Native American artifacts within an 1874-era building. The Pershing County Court House is Lovelock’s most significant historical landmark, where you can read the transcript of the town’s first murder trial in a building designed by Nevada’s top architect Frederic DeLongchamps, representing the last round courthouse still in use today.

Genoa

Genoa, Nevada, is the smallest town on the list, but it packs a mighty wallop when it comes to its community spirit. This region’s roots begin in the Carson River Valley, with the Sierra Nevada Mountains in view and good farmland all around, making it a great place to settle. Mormons were the first to call this part of Nevada home, while German and Danish immigrants also influenced the town’s heritage. Genoa’s Community Church serves as the hub of the community, but the town is also home to the Mormon Station Historic Park as well as the Mormon Station Museum, and the Genoa Courthouse Museum.
