Truckee

From the babbling brooks to the snow-covered mountains, this small town looks like the front of a postcard. Truckee is known for its parks, which give residents and tourists plenty to do.

The Donner Memorial State Park is a famous state park in California that has a wild story to tell. A relentless winter storm that broke out around 1846-1847, coupled with a series of other issues, caused the Donner Party to be stranded. This memorial park has a museum you can visit as well as hiking and walking trails to explore.

Placerville is a small town with about 10-11,000 in its population. It is famously known as "Old Hangtown" and yes, it is called that because in the mid-1800s a series of hangings happened. To this day you can still visit its tree stump that is ironically in a basement in a bar called The Hangman's Tree.

This town has exciting outdoor things to do just as visiting Apple Hill where you can your family can enjoy picking the best-tasting apples in California. You can also head over to the Gold Bug Park & Mine to tour this historical gold mine. You can enjoy taking old-timey photos of your family at a real gold mine!

Murphys is a small town often referred to as a village. This village is a must-see place in 2024 for its deep history in its hotels, caverns, and museums. The Ironstone Vineyards is a charming winery to tour and sip on white and red wines.
