Dogpatch Store

The Dogpatch Store has been providing guests with gifts and novelties since 1947. And since then, it has been the longest continually operated store at Lake of the Ozarks. Located on the historic Bagnell Dam Strip, Dogpatch Store is right in the heart of the action. What started as a gas station and tourist stop has since grown to a 10,000 square foot establishment selling gifts, Lake of the Ozarks souvenirs, and plenty more. Stop in for some old-fashioned candy sticks, Fitz’s soda, unique T-shirts, hats, games, and even toys. Don’t forget to say hi to “Grandpa” on the front porch when you first enter the Dogpatch Store!

Greasy Creek General Store

What started as a produce stand has grown into a fully operating general store. The popularity of the Greasy Creek General Store increased so much that they had to add a front porch to their current building! The family-owned and operated business prides itself on preserving the charm of a classic general store. They achieve this by their small size, old-fashioned décor, comfortable atmosphere, and even the goods they offer. Green beans, tomatoes, squashes, potatoes, and other vegetables were the original goods sold at this general store; they have since expanded to flowers, jellies, candles, décor, and so much more. Located on Ozark Trail in Buffalo, Missouri, this stop still has plenty of produce options for your trip to the mountains.

For more than 40 years, Ozarkland has been a go-to stop for tourists visiting the Ozarks. The store that boasts the title “The Road Trip Tradition That’s Worth Stopping for” sells unique gifts, souvenirs, homemade fudge, and candies while providing a family-friendly experience. There are four separate locations throughout the state of Missouri, all offering a different shopping experience from the next. Make sure to stop at any of their exclusive shops for jams and jellies, syrups, candles, moccasins, hot sauce, or anything else you may come across!

Turner Station Mercantile

Designated as a historical site in Greene County, Turner Station Mercantile is believed to be the oldest continually operated store in the county. The original building, constructed in 1889, was burned in a fire in 1923 and had to be rebuilt from the ground up. Seven generations of the Turner family have run the business, and to this day, it is still maintained by the family. Located in the town of Turner (named after the prominent family), the mercantile specializes in deli sandwiches but also offers a delicious Saturday brunch. Lange General Store

Located in the Ozark Mountains, more specifically, Steelville, Missouri, this historic general store has been serving its community since the 1800s. The red brick building was rebuilt after a fire in 1904, and the wooden floors, tin ceiling, and antique counters and fixtures are all the original from the rebuild. Stop in and step back in time while sifting through their candy barrels or enjoying a bottle of pure sugar cane soda. Besides the nostalgic novelties, Lange General Store also offers food items made in Missouri as well as coffee and tea, home décor, toys, and clothing.

Glossip General Store

Found in Highlandville, Missouri, the Glossip General Store is family-owned and operated and focused on maintaining tradition and providing outstanding customer service. They target a multitude of patrons, from farmers and DIYers to outdoor enthusiasts. Equipped with livestock feed, pet food, hardware, and fishing and hunting supplies, the Glossip General Store has the essentials one might need to carry out most tasks. From tourists and residents to farm animals and house pets, everyone is taken care of at this feed and farm supply store.

Dick’s 5 & 10

Since 1961 Dick’s 5 & 10 has provided a unique shopping experience with one-of-a-kind gifts. Although not always as prosperous as it currently is, Dick was the only employee for many years, but he refused to quit. What set Dick’s 5 & 10 apart from the competition was the collections displayed throughout the store. Signed Aviation Prints, G Scale Trains running overhead, and the Carl Taylor White River Arrowhead Collection are just a few displays throughout the store. In 2006 Dick passed away after closing the store one final time, however it stayed within the family and to this day is still family owned and operated. If you’re in Branson, Missouri stop at Dick’s for candy, soda, souvenirs, toys, craft items, décor and any of the other many trinkets they carry.

Visit the Ozarks from four different states and make your way to one or more of the general stores found within the region.
