These Utah Towns Throw Legendary 4th Of July Celebrations

Utah's 4th of July calendar runs longer than the holiday itself. Kanab kicks off the day at 6 a.m. with the Blast of Percussion cannon shot and a Firefighter Pancake Breakfast at the Kanab Center. Park City lines Main Street with marching bands and floats before closing the night with a drone show at Park City Mountain. Vernal's Dinosaurland Freedom Fest carries the Ashley Valley Community Park through fireworks at 10 p.m. The five Utah towns ahead pack America's 250th birthday weekend with parades, pancakes, and pyrotechnics.

Kanab

Kanab runs a full Independence Day lineup starting at 6 a.m. with the Blast of Percussion cannon shot at the Kanab Center. An hour later, the 5K Color Run kicks off from the same venue with white dress code required. The Firefighter Pancake Breakfast follows at the Kanab Center before the Parade and Opening Ceremony down Center Street.

The midday lineup runs broad with the Scales and Tails Utah live animal show at the KES Event Space, a BMX stunt show, a farmers market until 5 p.m., swim time at the Kanab City Pool, and a cornhole tournament at the Kanab Center gym. Fireworks start promptly at 9:30 p.m. after a live music show at Jacob Hamblin Park. The Youth Dance at the Kanab Center Pavilion runs until midnight, and the town wraps with a community potluck on July 5 starting at 6 p.m. While in Kanab, visitors can explore the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, where the dunes have built up over the past 10,000 to 15,000 years and now host sledding, sandboarding, and ATV access. The Kanab Sand Cave just north of town along Highway 89 covers a man-made cave reached by a short hike from the parking pull-off.

Park City

Park City runs one of the highest-profile 4th of July celebrations in the state with the day starting on the morning Flyover, the 5K Fun Run, and the Park City Parade. The parade rolls down Main Street in Old Town with marching bands, floats, and community groups.

From 12:30 p.m. onward, the City Park Festival pulls food trucks, rugby games, and the skate park together for an afternoon block. The Forum Fest sets up at 4 p.m. at Canyons Village, and the Oakley Rodeo runs at 7:30 p.m. at the Oakley fairgrounds 17 miles east. Park City Mountain hosts the drone show that closes the night, replacing the traditional fireworks that have been retired in many western Utah communities for fire-risk reasons. The Fourth of July Volleyball Tournament runs all day at Park City Mountain. The Deer Valley Music Festival at Deer Valley Resort covers the evening concert audience. Visitors staying longer can ride scenic chairlifts at Deer Valley Resort and explore the 500-plus miles of mountain biking trails around Park City.

Vernal

The Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce runs the 4th of July Parade in Vernal in 2026 with an America 250 theme. The parade starts at 10 a.m. at 700 West Main Street and ends at 300 East Main Street, with prizes for Most Patriotic, Best Theme, and People's Choice floats. Runners can join the Firecracker 5K at 7 a.m. before the parade rolls.

The Dinosaurland Freedom Fest at Ashley Valley Community Park covers the rest of the day with inflatable waterslides, food vendors, and the beer garden. Live music runs from 4 to 10 p.m. with a headliner to be announced, and the fireworks set off at 10 p.m. Dinosaur National Monument pulls in most Vernal visitors, with one-third of the original quarry dig open to the public as the Quarry Exhibit Hall. The Fossil Discovery Trail lets visitors see fossils still embedded in the rock along the way. The Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum runs the in-town option with full dinosaur skeletons, a kids' cave, and the dinosaur garden outside.

Brigham City

Brigham City sticks with traditional Americana for its 4th of July celebrations. Rees Pioneer Park fills up early with the horseshoe tournament and the kids' bike parade, where bikes and wagons get decorated in red, white, and blue for a slow procession through the park.

The aquatic center runs open swim throughout the day, and food trucks line up around the park with regional barbecue and ice cream. Live music covers the evening hours until the fireworks display at 10 p.m. Brigham City has more to explore once the holiday wraps. The Brigham City Museum on Forest Street covers regional pioneer history, the 1851 founding of the Box Elder settlement (renamed Brigham City in 1855 after Brigham Young), and the woolen mill era. Mantua Reservoir, three miles east of town, runs boating, fishing, and swimming on a scenic mountain lake under Wellsville Cone. The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge west of town covers more than 80,000 acres of wetland with viewing platforms and a 12-mile auto loop popular with summer birders.

North Ogden

North Ogden runs its 4th of July celebrations as part of the longer Cherry Days festival. In 2026, the festival runs June 27 through July 7 at Barker Park at the base of Ben Lomond Peak. The Cherry Days lineup includes a 5K race, the Cherry Days Parade, carnival rides, games, food vendors, live music, and the fireworks display.

Ben Lomond Peak frames the festival with mountain views, and the parade and carnival typically run around July 5 with fireworks the same evening. Visitors staying past the festival can explore Ogden-area outdoor attractions, including the Waterfall Canyon Trail in Ogden just three miles south, which climbs to a 200-foot waterfall at the base of the Wasatch Mountains. The Ogden River Scenic Byway runs east past Pineview Reservoir for one of the prettiest drives in northern Utah.

Celebrating America's 250th Birthday Across Utah

Each of these five Utah towns runs a 4th of July tradition tied to its own character. Kanab brings the day in at sunrise with cannons and pancakes. Park City pairs the daytime parade with a drone show closing the night. Vernal builds the Dinosaurland Freedom Fest around the America 250 theme. Brigham City keeps the small-town pioneer-Americana lineup with horseshoe tournaments and kids' parades. North Ogden stretches the celebration across the 10-day Cherry Days festival at the foot of Ben Lomond Peak. All five Utah towns pack the 2026 Independence Day calendar with enough events to fill any holiday weekend.
