The 2002 Winter Olympics were held in Salt Lake City, Utah, with many events taking place in and around Park City. The Utah Olympic Park is a winter sports park that was specifically built for the 2002 Winter Olympics, and is located just a few miles northwest of downtown Park City.

During the 2002 games, the park hosted the bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, ski jumping, and Nordic combined events. Deer Valley Resort was another venue used, hosting the freestyle skiing and men's alpine slalom events. This specific Olympics was exceptionally patriotic, taking place just months after the 9/11 attacks, which now draws visitors and travelers alike to view its history from its close proximity to Park City’s downtown.

Park City hosts many seasonal events throughout the year. Founded in 1978, the Sundance Film Festival is the largest independent film festival in the United States, celebrating original storytelling and independent films annually at the beginning of every year. In the summer, the Park City Kimball Arts Festival stands out as one of the nation’s top-ranked art festivals happening right on Park City's historical Main Street. Welcoming nearly 30,000 attendees each year, the festival features juror-selected artists from around the world.
