These Nevada Towns Throw Legendary 4th Of July Celebrations

This year is something special, as the United States of America turns 250, and the state of Nevada hosts some of the best 4th of July celebrations. You can see that the city of Fallon is preparing for a packed family event, known as the Picnic in the Park. Zephyr Cove is unique as it is celebrated on Lake Tahoe near the beaches, and you can take a cruise on the water to view the fireworks. Starting with Fallon, here are five small towns in Nevada perfect for legendary 4th of July celebrations.

Fallon

Fallon is a small town of around 9,300 residents and boasts 300 days of sunshine every year. There are plenty of recreational activities, including rides down Sand Mountain's dunes. Other outdoor adventures include relaxing Wildlife watching excursions at the nearby Stillwater National Wildlife Refuge. For shooting, you can visit the Fallon Trap Club to shoot trap and skeet. If you're more into cars, check out the Rattlesnake Raceway that features a dirt track for racers of all levels. If you like community and annual events, the 3C Event Complex is the best place to catch an event, with a large Arena that can host 3,000 guests and 48 RV sites. Visit the calendar for the upcoming events.

Speaking of festivities, the town is hosting the 4th of July celebrations featuring a picnic-themed event called "Picnic in the Park". There will be a city-wide picnic, a parade, music, games, food, a beer garden, and activities for all ages. The parade will be in downtown Fallon on Maine Street starting from 10:00 a.m. After the parade, there will be a block party, then fireworks at dusk.

Alamo

Alamo is located just 96 miles north of Las Vegas in the center of the Pahranagat Valley. The town was laid out in 1901, and in 1866, the discovery of gold led to the establishment of many mining towns in the area. Despite being a small town having fewer than 1,000 residents, it knows how to throw an epic 4th of July celebration. The annual celebration seems to grow each year because it draws visitors with the creative display of handmade custom floats representing the holiday's different themes. You can enter to create your own floats in the parade and be rewarded for the top three prizes. The park is also filled with games, and athletes can attend the 5K run, three-on-three basketball tournament, volleyball tournament, and Home Run Derby. There is wonderful American food available, like a pancake breakfast. There is nothing more patriotic than the fireworks display at night courtesy of the volunteer fire department.

Speaking of fireworks, they will be displayed against the backdrop of the Dark Skies. The town has many Dark Skies viewing areas where the stars are not interfered with by city lights. You can see them at Mount Irish Campground, about 23 miles northwest of town. Just south of town, you can visit Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, with over 5,000 acres of wetlands and grasslands that serve as a critical stop on the Pacific Flyway. Zephyr Cove

Zephyr Cove is a small community of under 1,000 residents along Lake Tahoe. It has been a historical return since 1862. As a lakeside town, the location is perfect for the 4th of July fireworks along the waterfront called Lights on the Lake at 9:45. Guests can enjoy live music, delicious food, and refreshing drinks on the boat. If you like, you can rent your own watercraft, such as boats, jet skis, or paddle boards, and enjoy the lake yourself. During the day, you can enjoy each activity, such as volleyball, frisbee, or just sunbathing on the shore. There are various off-roading activities, and you can rent an ATV on the rugged trails and catch a glimpse of the panoramic lake views. There are several dining options in town, such as the Zephyr Cove Restaurant, featuring a delicious menu with fresh ingredients, and the Sunset Beach Bar and Grill, a popular choice for casual dining.

Boulder City

The small town of about 14,800 is home to the Hoover Dam. In fact, the first stop should be to the Hoover Dam, which is just 6.5 miles northeast of town. It was once the largest dam when it was completed in 1935. It is over 220 meters tall and 379 meters long. The town itself is only 26 miles southeast of Las Vegas, making it the perfect weekend getaway or day trip for people wanting a relaxed experience.

That does not mean that there is a lack of festivities during the 4th of July. In fact, there is an event called the Damboree Parade. The celebration kicks off with the Rotary Pancake Breakfast at Bicentennial Park at 7:00 a.m. The flyover that starts the parade is located on Colorado Street. The parade ends at Broadbent Park right in front of the Boulder City Swimming Pool. There will be games, vendors, and a beer wagon. You can also cool off at the pool and die for cash during the coin toss that takes place at 11:00 a.m. At 4:00 p.m., the party moves to Veterans Memorial Park for music, food, and the show in the sky. The event ends with a magnificent fireworks show featuring the music of DJ Mike Pacini. If you want to do something after the event, you can play golf at Cascata Golf Club or Boulder Creek Golf Club. For train enthusiasts, you can visit the Nevada State Railroad Museum or the historic Railroad Trail. The trail passes by Lake Mead and is a 7.5-mile round trip.

Elko

Elko is a small town with a population of around 20,500. The town has a unique but fascinating way to celebrate the 4th of July. It does so with the Silver State Stampede parade, which will start at 1:30 on 6th and Commercial Street and travel north on Commercial to Idaho Street. The parade is also asking participants in the "tough enough to wear pink" event to donate to raise awareness of breast cancer. The 4th of July celebrations are heavily influenced by the annual Silver State Stampede, Nevada's oldest rodeo.

Because of the heavily influenced theme of cowboys and the rodeo, you can visit the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum. You can meet the artist who makes unique cowboy-inspired art, gear, and clothing. They even hold an auction to purchase some gear that might fit your collection. If you want to play some golf, you can do that at the Ruby View Golf Course with 18 holes.

The state of Nevada throws the most epic 4th of July celebrations. You can see that in Elko, with a cowboy-themed parade and a museum known as the Cowboy Arts & Gear Museum. In Boulder City, there's nothing like seeing the fireworks with a backdrop of the Hoover Dam. Alamo also has a spectacular backdrop of dark skies and bright stars, which complement the amazing fireworks display. One thing is certain: everyone will be celebrating the 4th of July, but no one does it better than the small towns of Nevada.
