Main Street in Blowing Rock is an idyllic pathway lined with cozy cafes and indie boutiques framed by Mayview Park and the Blue Ridge Mountains. The east side of Main Street is a unique combination of local shops and green space, and the west side of the street is packed with places to find gifts and clothing, such as Take Heart and Neaco. Both of these local stores are known for their friendly staff and fantastic gift selections. If you are craving a sweet treat, head to Blue Deer on Main, a unique dessert spot that features coffee and custom-made cookie ice cream sandwiches located at the north end of Main Street. Banner Elk

Not far from the Tennessee border, the town of Banner Elk features a mountain-village main street that is a gateway to local ski areas and wineries. Banner Elk’s main thoroughfare features a variety of eateries from local diners to upscale restaurants, such as LP on Main. Hillsborough’s historic district centers around Churton Street, which features a charming courthouse and nearby access to the Eno River. As you walk along Churton Street, the history and culture of Hillsborough are everywhere. The Orange County Courthouse is a beautiful example of local architecture, and the Orange County Historical Museum is free and open to the public. Both Front Streets (yes, there are two!) in New Bern are gorgeous locations for a quiet waterfront stroll. South Front Street, which runs parallel to the Trent River, and East Front Street, which is alongside the Neuse River, converge at Union Point Park. In this peaceful outdoor greenspace, locals can enjoy a picnic by the gazebo and appreciate the beautiful riverfront views from the boardwalk. Food lovers, get ready! On Main Street in downtown Davidson, you will find acclaimed restaurants and a walkable, friendly vibe. Unless you live there, it will be impossible to dine at all of Davidson’s amazing eateries. For example, Flatiron Kitchen and Taphouse is known for its innovative menu, Seaboy is an intimate spot with a beach house feel, and BARREL AND FORK is an upscale New American option. These three very different (but all highly rated restaurants are all on Main Street. In addition to the amazing food and drinks, Davidson’s Main Street is also a short walk from Davidson College and Lake Norman.
