5. Lake Ala-Kul
Lake Ala Kul is located 11,590 ft. above sea level. It is an Alpine lake that attracts hikers and those with raging adrenaline. The path to the lake is treacherous, and tourists need to be adequately prepared. Picky sea buckthorn covers the path along the Karakol River. There are waterfalls along the streams flowing from the lake and tourists can take detours along this streams. Tourists can also visit the lodges and hot springs along the valley. The boulders along the path also make the journey enjoyable, and visitors can even ride on horsebacks.
The city of Osh is the second largest city in the country after Bishkek. The city is approximately 3000 years old. The city is characterized by the wide boulevards, Soviet-style apartment blocks, and marble-faced public buildings. From the town, one can journey to the Suleiman mountain, also known as the "mountain or throne of Solomon." Tourists also visit the city's bazaar which is located along the bank of the Syr-Darya River and approximately 2,000 years old. 3. Lake Issyk-kul
Lake Issyk-Kul is one of the world's large alpine lakes, second only to Lake Titicaca in South America. Despite being located at an altitude of 5,249 ft above the sea level, the lake never freezes. The marine microclimate around the lake creates a wild environment and the mountains surrounding the lake are home to the snow leopard, and the wild boar. The rivers flowing into the lake flow violent and create a spectacular view. Tourist can also get a glimpse of migratory birds such as the Black-necked Grebe, Slavonian Grebe, the Grey Heron among others.
2. Tien Shan Mountains
The Tien Shan Mountains are one of the most spectacular mountain systems in the world. The snowcapped peaks of the celestial mountains form an endless range that is approximately 1,750 miles long. While visiting the mountain range, tourists view lakes including Lake Ala Kul, gorges including Barskoon Gorge, and mountain peaks. The wildness creates a serene environment for wild camping with friends and family. Tourists trek the various routes to the peak of the mountain while enjoying beautiful green scenarios.
1. Song Kol Lake
Journeying to the Song Kol Lake is adventurous due to its rugged terrain. The landscape on the shore of the lake is flat, perfectly fit for camping and campfire. The local nomadic people are friendly to tourists, and their culture which includes milking horses is amazing. Tourists get to experience the warm glow of the morning sun while watching horses return from grazing early in the morning. A visit to the lake is not complete without a horseback ride along the shore into the hilly surroundings.
