Pe'epe'e Falls, which descends 60–80 feet into a pool below, is surrounded by luxuriant tropical foliage and lava rocks that are thought to have formed during the eruptions of the Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcanoes 3,000 years ago and about 10,000 years ago respectively. Pe'epe'e falls has grown popular due to its divine beauty.

Tourists can enjoy swimming in the cool waters, watching the beautiful waterfall, and performing cliff jumping. However, note that in drier seasons, swimming in the falls can be considered dangerous due to the high speed of the water. This can sweep swimmers down to Boiling Pots which causes them to drown. Moreover, to the right of the Boiling Pots viewing platform, there is a short track that descends to the pools below. However, it is overgrown, curvy, steep, unmaintained, and treacherous when it rains. So, people must be careful while hiking toward the falls since any small mistake can jeopardize their lives.

A fun fact to know about the Boiling Pots is that they are named based on how they move, not because of their temperature. The water rushes over several boulders and down a remarkably tight path as it exits the Pe'epe'e Falls plunging basin. The water running through this short stretch of the channel is remarkably similar to boiling water because of the river's underwater arches and rocks, which cause the water to churn, roll, and bubble. Pe'epe'e falls is a beautiful place to visit. Its crystal-clear water attracts visitors to swim in. However, one must remember the risks that might befall while swimming in the falls.
