Indiana is a Midwestern gem when it comes to 3-day vacations; you can do a real beach-and-dunes getaway without leaving the state line. Michigan City

As the name suggests, Michigan City sits on the south shore of Lake Michigan. Because of its proximity to the water, it comes as no surprise that the area is a popular beach spot, ideal for swimming, boating, and coastal living, not to mention watching sunsets and surfing. Washington Park is the best location for a beach-based vacay, featuring sparkling blue waters, sandy shores, and even a zoo with over 90 different animals.
