Description

The city of Savannah, with its tree-filled squares and perfectly preserved historic buildings, was the first colonial and state capital of Georgia.

Escaping virtually untouched from the destruction of America's Civil War, Savannah boasts one of the largest historic districts in the United States.

Originally laid out in a grid of 24 squares, each named for an historical event, or famous Georgia native, Savannah is a living history lesson, and a joy to visit,

arrow Bonaventure Cemetery
Made famous in the novel "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," the Bonaventure Cemetery lies on what was once a great oak-shaded Savannah plantation built by Colonel John Mulryne.

Thick with moss-draped trees and wistful statuary of angels and children, this beautiful 160 acre cemetery is a must-stop on any visit to Savannah, considered the most haunted of all American cities.

arrow Telfair Museum of Art
Welcome to the South's first public museum of art. Opened in 1886 in the Telfair family's renovated Regency-style mansion, the museum houses an impressive collection of over 4,500 American, Asian and European paintings and sculptures.

Encompassing three unique buildings, two of which are National Historic Landmarks, the museum is a must see for anyone with an interest in art.

arrow Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace
One of the most visited home museums in Georgia, the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace is where the founder of the Girl Scouts in the USA was born. Retrace the life of an eccentric and charming woman, as well as a charismatic youth leader, who lived in a house located in the heart of the Savannah Historic District. Marvelously brought to life by many original Gordon family pieces, stylish Egyptian Revival and classical details popular in the early 19th century, this is an outstanding example of Regency architecture.
