SAVANNAH
The city of Savannah, with its tree-filled squares and perfectly preserved historic buildings, was the first colonial and state capital of
Georgia.
Escaping virtually untouched from the destruction of America's Civil War, Savannah boasts one of the largest historic districts in the country.
Originally laid out in a grid of 24 squares, each named for an historical event or
famous Georgia native, Savannah is a living history lesson and a joy to visit.

Savannah's Pirate House restaurant was actually a tavern frequented by pirates who raided the Caribbean Sea in the 1790's. A few events from the Pirate House were the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson's acclaimed novel, Treasure Island.
