According to the 2017 FORBES Global 2000 report, Nestle is the largest food producer in the world in terms of revenue, profit, and market value. PepsiCo and Coca-Cola topped the list of the largest beverage producers. PepsiCo and Coca-Cola both depend on sugary products for market, and both have considered diversifying to other products to increase their market share and revenues. These are the global leaders in sales generated beverage.

8. PepsiCo - 62.8

PepsiCo generated $62.8B in the 2016-2017 financial year to top the list of the global beverage companies. It reported a profit of $6.3B. Its total market value was reported to be $159.4 B. PepsiCo engages in the manufacturing, distribution, marketing and sale of beverage and snacks. Its notable brands include Pepsi-Cola, Diet Mountain Dew, Tropicana, and fountain syrups. Health trends are the main hindrance to the growth of the beverage company as medical experts warn against overconsumption of carbonized and sugary drinks. PepsiCo is ranked 84th largest public limited company two spots ahead of Coca-Cola.

The Coca-Cola company generated $41.5B in sales to rank second behind PepsiCo. However, Coca-Cola pipped PepsiCo by generating $6.5B in profit and has a market value of $182.9B. Coca-Cola was founded in 1982 and has its headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. The Coca-Cola company is a manufacturer, distributor, and marketer of non-alcoholic beverages including water. It is a global brand that is renowned for producing Coca-Cola, Schweppes, Minute Maid, Fuze Tea, Ice Dew and several, other drinks. Just like PepsiCo, Coca-Cola is facing a backlash over health concerns. It was ranked the 86th largest public company.

6. Anheuser-usch Inev - 45.6

Belgium’s alcohol producer Anheuser-Busch InBev was ranked the third largest beverage company and the largest alcohol producer by Forbes’2017 FORBES Global 2000 report. The company is the largest producer of alcoholic beverages; it made sales worth $45.56 B. The company reported profits of $1.2 B which is far much lower than the other two companies. The company was formed in 2016 when AB InBev merged with SABMiller. Despite reporting lower profits that the other two beverage producers, Anheuser-Busch InBev has a market value of $213.1 B, far much higher than PepsiCo and Coca-Cola. The company has a large market share in every continent except Africa. The report also ranked it the 126th largest public limited company.

5. Diageo - 15.2

UK-based alcoholic beverage company Diageo ranked fourth. The company was also ranked the 261st largest public limited company. Diageo generated $15.2 B in revenue and $3.2 B in profits in 2016. Up until 2017, Diageo was the largest alcoholic distiller before being overtaken by China’s Kweichow Moutai. It produces some of the globe's most renowned alcoholic products including the world’s best-selling vodka; Smirnoff, highest-selling blended Scotch whiskey; Johnnie Walker, the best-selling stout; Guinness, and the best-selling liqueur; Baileys. The company has a market value of $71.2 B.

Netherland’s Heineken Holding is ranked the fifth largest beverage company. It generated $23 B in revenue, $1.7 B in profit, and has a market value of $23B. Heineken Holding NV supervises Heineken group which produces and distribute beer and several other beverages. It was ranked the 316th largest public company.

3. Femsa - 20.9

Mexican beverage retail giant Femsa was ranked the sixth largest beverage company. Femsa not only bottles Coca-Cola products but it is also a major brewer with market in over 70 countries. In 2016 Femsa’s sales totaled $20.9 B, it made a profit of $1.1 B and has a market price of $33.1 B

2. Pernod Ricard - 9.7

French company Pernod Ricard engages in the production of spirits, wine, and several non-alcoholic beverages. Its products include Jameson, Absolut Vodka, and Campo Viejo among several others. Pernod Ricard sales totaled $9.7 B in 2016, it declared a profit of $1.4B and has a market value of $31.4 B.

Japanese Kirin Holdings Co., Ltd manufactures and sales beverages, and pharmaceutical products. Its beverages segment manufactures beer, malt, and several other alcoholic drinks. The company also has interest in logistics and engineering activities. The Tokyo-based company made sales of $19.1 B, a profit of $1.1 B during the 2016 trading period and has a market value of $17.4 B. It was ranked the 543 largest public limited company.
