Which Animals Eat Spiders?

Spiders have many enemies because of their small size. Their predators range from insects to other small and large animals. The spider’s predators include parasitic wasps, frogs, other spiders, birds, lizards, and humans.

Wasps

Many wasp species see spiders as prey. Several species of dirt dauber wasps eat spiders. The species Gelis apterus and Calymmochilus dispar, discovered in 2013 in Portugal, also eat spiders.

Monkeys

Although it doesn't make up the majority of their diets, monkeys have been known to snack on the occasional spider.

Birds

Many insectivorous birds consume spiders. These include sparrows, black birds, crows, blue birds, wrens, and blue tit, the European cousin of chickadee. The blue tit feed their young ones with spiders before weaning them.

What Animals Eat Spiders?

Some of the animals that eat spiders include wasps, monkeys, birds, amphibians, and reptiles.

Amphibians and Reptiles

Frogs, lizards, and toads all consume spiders. The young toads and frogs feed on spiders until they grow into adults. Spiders form part of the diet for several species of lizards. In fact, this helps keep spider populations under control.

Human

In Cambodia, deep fried spiders are considered delicacies. The town of Skuon in particularly is known for its fried psiders.

Other Animals That Eat Spiders

Ticks also feed on spiders, as do praying mantises. Group-foraging ants like army ants also attack spiders in a multitude and consume them.
