Tasmania Weather

The climate of Tasmania is cool and temperate with four distinct seasons. As the state is in the Southern Hemisphere, summer lasts from December to February while winter months are June through August.

Average temperatures range from 70°F (21°C) along the coast to 75°F (24°C) as you move further inland. The Central Plateau region of Tasmania experiences some of the coldest temperatures in Australia, with temperatures ranging from 39°F (4°C) to 63°F (17°C).

Rainfall amounts vary throughout the state, with annual averages between 24-57 inches (616-1,458 mm).
