South Australia experiences summer from December to February, with temperatures averaging 82°F (28°C) along the coastal regions. The northern desert regions experience very hot conditions during daytime hours, however the nights are relatively cold.

Rainfall occurs mainly in winter months (June through August) with more precipitation falling in cities and around the mountains than in the outback. Average winter temperatures for South Australia range from 61°F (15°C) to 50°F (10°C).
