The climate in Spain is incredibly diverse, with 13 different Köppen classifications present. In the country’s south, temperatures are sunny and warm throughout the year while the summer often brings with it extreme heat. The winter in southern Spain is among the warmest in all of Europe.
The country’s north coast and Mediterranean coast tend to have cooler temperatures year-round. In the north of Spain, around Basque Country, an oceanic climate is experienced. In contrast, many areas in southeastern Spain have a semiarid climate which is much more dry. The climate of the Canary Islands is subtropical.
