More on Portugal
Portugal experiences a warm Mediterranean climate, except for the islands of the Azores, where the climate is oceanic. In the northern portion of the country, north of the Tagus River, the climate is more temperate than in the southern regions. The southern portion of the country also tends to experience less rainfall than in the north.
Portugal is one of the sunniest European countries, boasting nearly 3,000 hours of sunshine every year. Portugal experiences all four seasons, with spring lasting from early March to late May, summer from early June to late August, autumn from early September to late November, and winter from early December to late February.
