There has been a significant surge of unusual criminal activity from Florida in recent years. With strange crimes like stealing live lobsters while leaving the restaurant, or dry humping stuffed animals, the "Sunshine State "is making us laugh and cry at the same time. Here are some of the most recent and most unusual crimes that happened in Florida.
12. The Italian Job
We are starting with a mild one. Interviewing for a job position can be stressful, especially the anticipation after the interview is over. Dominick Breedlove left a job interview at Kohl's and stole a couple of shoes (apparently they did not have any security tags) on his way out.
Unfortunately for him, he was caught and taken into custody at Hernando County Detention Center. He did not get the job after all, nor the shoes he stole, but at least he gave the people around the world a good laugh.
11. Dry Humping A Stuffed Animal
It is as disturbing as the title suggests. Cody Meader was arrested at a Target store in St. Petersburg after he was caught attempting to have sexual intercourse with a stuffed animal. The doll in question was Olaf from the popular Disney franchise "Frozen." Meader was charged with criminal mischief.
10. A Stabbing Fart
37-year-old Shanetta Wilson let one rip while she was standing in line at The Dollar General Store in Broward County. Some people complained about the fart, one of them being John Walker, who was standing directly behind her. As a response to his reaction, Shanetta Wilson pulled out a knife and attacked Walker. She was arrested soon after and charged with aggravated assault.
9. Violent Case Of Jealousy
Justin Foster tracked his ex-girlfriends new boyfriend all the way to Chicago, beat him with a tire iron and cut off his penis, proceeding to carve his initials into his leg. After that, he booked a flight back home but was fortunately caught and arrested soon after the gruesome act.
8. Belly Button Drug Lord
Martin Skelly was arrested at McDonald's where he showed up with a meth-loaded syringe. While he was in jail, he underwent a body search, which resulted in police officers finding a bag of methamphetamine shoved deep inside his belly button. A good place to stash drugs, indeed.
7. Sex In a Police Car
Aaron Thomas and Megan Mondanaro were arrested for drunken bicycling at Fernandina Beach and were put into the squad car to be escorted to the police station. Soon after that, they took their clothes off and started having sex right in the officer's car. Aaron Thomas attempted to flee, while naked, but was soon captured. They were both charged with resisting arrest and exposure of sexual organs.
6. Family Affairs
Cynthia Alexander and her daughter Stephanie had a fight on the front lawn of their mobile home. What started as a minor quarrel about cleaning their house (according to the neighbors), ended with Cynthia shooting her daughter in the face with a stun gun. Her daughter did not press any charges, but the police nonetheless charged the angry mother with aggravated battery.
5. Don't Poke Me Over Facebook
Jesse Rizzo apparently hates being poked via social network platforms. After a friend of his poked him on Facebook and teased him about it in person, Rizzo retaliated by hitting him in the head with a golf club. Who knows what would have happened if he spammed his Facebook wall with unfunny memes?
4. Easter Bunny Boxing Match
Antonie McDonald is not usually a violent person, according to him. He was caught on video, dressed in an Easter Bunny costume, fighting an unknown man in Orlando, Florida. Apparently, McDonald was already accused of two armed robberies before the incident and was a wanted man in New Jersey.
3. I Return Your Dog If...
Kevin Austin Skaggs was arrested after the police found out he demanded sexual acts from a woman because he saved her dog. Fortunately, the police officers found Skaggs in his vehicle and returned the dog safe and sound to its owner. Skaggs was charged with extortion.
2. Where Is My Kitten?
Douglas Allen Smith was arrested and charged with aggravated battery because he beat his best friend and trashed his own house. Apparently, he was only looking for his kitten and had no recollection of any of the damage that occurred.
1. Stealing Lobsters
42-year-old Kimberly Gabel was drunk out of her mind when she was asked to leave the Red Lobster restaurant by their manager. She was apparently causing a disturbance. Before leaving the premise, she reached into a water tank and stole a live lobster. She was arrested for intoxication and petty theft.
