REGINA
Established in 1882 and named after Queen Victoria, Regina is the capital and second largest city (after
Saskatoon) in Saskatchewan.
With more than 350,000 hand planted trees and a large portion of the area dedicated as parks and green spaces, Regina is a gorgeous green oasis on the vast
Canadian Great Plains. The Queen City also has a number of bike paths, cross-country skiing venues, and other outdoor attractions right in the heart of the city.
With the help of the University of Regina, the city has developed a very lively cultural scene in music, theatre and dance and was named the “Cultural Capital of Canada” in 2004 by Heritage Canada. Regina hosts a number of events throughout the year including the Cathedral Village Arts Festival, Craven Country Jamboree, and the Regina Folk festival, Western Canada’s longest running festival.
Regina has warm summers, cold dry winters, and consistently enjoys more sunshine annually than any other major Canadian city. With its abundance of cultural activities and outdoor attractions, Regina is a great
Canadian vacation destination for any season.
