Description

Alberta is known as the Princess Province, because it's named after the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria of England, Princess Louise Caroline Alberta.

It's dominated in the southwest by the Rocky Mountains and related foothills - all formed by glaciers. Thick forested plains cover the balance (almost 90%) of the province.
