Weather
![]() ![]()
Though relatively cool from summer to early fall, conditions are very pleasant then with average high temps in the 60's. Summer highs in the mid 70's are a regular occurrence in the south.
![]()
Although coastal areas remain mild in winter and fjord water's never freeze, the upper elevations in central Norway, and areas north of the Arctic Circle experience much colder conditions. Note that wild fluctuations in winter highs and lows are common.
![]()
Rainfall amounts are the heaviest along the western coastal areas in fall and early winter, with much less precipitation inland. Winter snowfall can be heavy in the central and northern mountains and many are snow-capped throughout the year.
![]()
Above the Arctic Circle in the far north, the summer sun never completely sets, thus the phrase, "Norway, Land of the Midnight Sun." Winter days across most of Norway are much shorter, and available daylight is certainly muted and less intense.
