Although Azerbaijan's tourist industry is in the embroyonic stage, there are accommodations and things to do throughout most of the country.
For the most part, visitors stay in the city of Baku, the nation's cosmopolitan capital. Baku is multilingual, but out in the country, very few people speak English
Azerbaijan offers ancient cities, fortresses, palaces, museums, the mud volcanoes, the eternal flame in Surakhani, beautiful natural landscapes, numerous health resorts and mineral spas and for the nature lovers, it's a bird-watching paradise.
Sandy beaches and warm waters along the Caspian Sea are great places for recreation and relaxation. Hiking in the beautiful Caucasus Mountains is a favorite for many summer visitors.

- Times to Travel: The best time to visit Azerbaijan's lowland is April to June. The landscape is green and full of flowers and the skies are clear and blue.
Summers are hot and humid, but October is also a good time to travel with warm days and crisp nights.
Around the Caspian Sea, the winters are mild, but inland it is very cold - sometimes dropping to temperatures below -5° F (-20° C).
