BORNEO PHOTOS |
Kota Kinabalu is the capital of Sabah, a semi-autonomous state in Malaysia, located on the massive Island of Borneo.
Scenic wonders and fascinating wildlife are the major attractions here as Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Malay Gibbons, Asia Elephants and other endangered species are commonplace. Just to the east of the city in a steamy rain forest, the Malaysian government has established a protective reserve to help preserve their indigenous animals. Especially vulnerable are the Orangutan and Proboscis Monkeys. A male Orangutan spots the camera from his lofty perch in the preserve. A Malay Gibbon swinging in a tree. A Honey Bear sleeping in a tree. A wild flower in this tropical rain forest. |
An endangered Proboscis Monkey enjoying a carrot. A young Asian Elephant immersed in a river. Another beautiful and very curious Orangutan. Nothing beats a smoke after lunch. Well, this young Proboscis Monkey seems to be enjoying one. |
