Scenic wonders and fascinating wildlife are the major attractions here as Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Malay Gibbons, Asia Elephants and other endangered species are commonplace.

Just to the east of the city in a steamy rain forest, the Malaysian government has established a protective reserve to help preserve their indigenous animals. Especially vulnerable are the Orangutan and Proboscis Monkeys.
