The island of Bali is part of the Republic of Indonesia, the largest archipelago in the world with over 18,000 islands. (see map)
A popular tourist destination known for its natural attractions, perfect climate and relaxed atmosphere, this island of flowers, Hindu temples and friendly people is considered a real gem by travelers worldwide. This tropical island is one of the most stunning, and yet, recent terrorism attacks here and in other areas of Indonesia have stifled western tourism rather dramatically. Regardless, this is an island and this is a country worth visiting, if for nothing else, its curious, always smiling, and welcoming people. MORE PHOTOS HERE  In a mountain pass in southeastern Bali we were photographing the local landscape when this little guy made his move in our direction. One American dollar later and he was a very happy child.  A Balinese women carrying colorful scarfs on her head. The day was hot and her load was heavy.  Balinese people of all ages use the scooter as their main mode of transportion.  On the island of Bali wild flowers are very common. This is a plumeria growing along the edge of a road.  Animals are revered (and in some cases) sacred in Bali. This cow and others were just wandering around the mountain village of Tenganan. MORE PHOTOS HERE |
  One of the magnificent, and very typical views in a Bali mountain pass.  Children in Bali are curious, yet cautious when visitors are around. This group was walking along the edge of a mountain road.  Bamboo grows all over Bali, and it's used in many ways. This truckload of bamboo was negotiating a winding road.  The exotic scenery of Bali is all picture postcard material.  Balinese children are just adorable, and these boys prove that point. MORE PHOTOS HERE |
