Long abandoned, there was a time when it hummed with activity in the late 19th century. Today, the railroad stops here briefly, but only in the summer months. (It was built during the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897–99. Prospectors would pack their supplies over the Coast Mountains from the ports and then build or purchase rafts to take them down the Yukon River to the gold fields around Dawson City. Interestingly, one of the establishments in town was the Arctic House, a combination saloon, restaurant and hotel operated on a houseboat by Freiderich "Fritz" Trump, Donald Trump's grandfather)
