Although not officially a recognized island (by definition), it sure feels like it as it's all but surrounded by water.

That overall island feeling is the result of rivers, a man-made canal, and a series of small bays, inlets and lakes. (The Tennessee and Cumberland Rivers flow very close to each other in the northwestern corner of Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky, separated by a very narrow strip of land. Known as the "Land Between the Lakes," the rivers on both sides are connected by a canal, a canal that subsequently created a series of relatively small river lakes.
