Current Quiz Previous 100 Winners Rules
From Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I posted a new Geography Quiz on 07/09/13 at approximately 9:00AM EDT). A $100.00 cash prize will be paid to the person who submits the first correct answer, and anyone (worldwide) can participate.
Clue #1 (07/09/13)
This ancient and mostly isolated place, known by three specific names over the years, is today a well-run family tourist attraction.
(Approximately 43 miles (69 km) east of Flagstaff, Arizona, the 1,200 m (3,900 ft) in diameter crater was created about 50,000 years ago. Formerly known as the Canyon Diablo Crater and Barringer Crater, the post office officially calls it Meteor Crater)
Clue #2 (07/09/13)
To visit it you must pay a fee, and that financial fact is the direct result of a decision made by an American president in the 20th century.
(In 1903, mining engineer and businessman Daniel M. Barringer staked a mining claim to the land surrounding the crater and received a land patent signed by Theodore Roosevelt himself. Meteor Crater is today a popular tourist attraction privately owned by the same Barringer family through the Barringer Crater Company, with an admission fee charged to see the crater)
Meteor Crater, Arizona USA
The first correct answer received was submitted by:
Rob Rosenthal, Trenton, New Jersey, USA
